Weather was just sort of ok. It was quite cold all day. Only up to 28F. We had sun but bitter winds. Our snow is mostly gone.

We got  a second load of rock on our driveway. That should greatly help with the bottomless pit it has become.

I started to reclaim my junk room. Will take me years!!! I found some old cards form Christmases of past and birthdays of past. Several of them from people I dearly loved who are now gone. Made me smile and sad at the same time. And I found a book on yoga I forgot I had. So it inspired me to start using it. It is a 28 day program so today was day 1. Pretty easy. Then I meditated for 20 minutes. Found some great music on a radio station in iTunes. I cannot change what distresses me so much in my life, but I can strive for more inner peace.

I had no plans this week and suddenly this afternoon I scheduled to ‘fika’ (coffee) with Naomi tomorrow, see a movie with Connie on thursday, and fika with Eric on friday. There is also a futboll game to watch and a meeting with an insurance guy.

Tonite I redid my nails. Lost one so I had no choice. Then took a glass of wine with me to soak in lots of bubbles. Nice ending to the day.

Slept late and napped all afternoon. Helps to pass the time.

Finished Christmas cards last nite. Had more trouble with them than I should have. For 2 cents I would have given up and sent none. It should not be that hard to print out cards.

Ate in town tonite and bought groceries. Then drove through Red Fox Lane in Salina to see the Christmas lights. A very exclusive area of huge homes with millions of lights. The homes sit around a small lake. In the dark we could see hundreds of geese and ducks on the lake and ice. More photos on Flickr. I took several of the lights.

Ventured to the Verizon store to have them check my Blackberry out. It made a new sound when I forwared and unforwarded calls. Turned out a new sound with the new company. Verizon bought out Alltel. Tons of people in line to be helped. Went faster than expected.

Went with a friend to McPherson to have coffee at a place called The Well. Wonderful place and they served Italian cream sodas. Needed to be with a friend to relax and chat. Fed my soul with both.

11/12/09 Warmer day

Weather was warmer today. Saw 34F this afternoon. Snow still looks pretty good. Roads were not bad but our drive way is tricky. At the end of our drive it is a hill. IF you should be so dumb as to stop on that hill, then you get to back all the back to the house to start again. I made it out ok. Not deep snow, just slick!!!

I live in Saline County. I drive on Burma Road to get to Lindsborg. Part way there I drive into McPherson County. Saline County does really good with the paved roads. I can see that the road was treated to prevent ice from forming. So I drove to Lindsborg and could go the speed limit. BUT. When you hit McPherson County, the road was immediately snow packed, icy, and rough as he!! to drive on. They had not treated it and doubt they did more than a slight blading of it. IF you are not from this area and are driving from Salina to Lindsborg using Burma Road, it could be really scary if not dangerous to hit that horrible mess of a road at 55mph. Idiots. See photos below. First is Saline County. Second is McPherson County.

Swedish group today. Not many showed up. We were a small intimate group of whom most came late. But it was really cold overnite and with the snow, no surprise. I had a Swedish of Christmas words to match the English with the Swedish. I even had a couple that no one knew.

I had lunch with Naomi at Jalisco’s. And threw my waiter off! Instead of my usual flautas, I had ‘numero dos’ – burrito with beans and rice. We had a nice talk but I think I monopolised the conversation. Probably from lack of much human contact all week!!

Day at home

Weather was frigid cold overnite. Got down to at least –7F. Probably a bit colder here than in town. Today was a heat wave. Saw 24F late this afternoon.

I stayed home all day and did nothing of memorable. loaded dishwasher, laundry, took photos, napped, worked on lesson for swedish group, printed Christmas letter to go in a few Christmas cards.

Frigid cold, drifts, no tv

Weather is frigid cold.  Frigid. And it shall get worse. Maybe –12F tonite. The low last nite was 6F. At 3pm, we are a balmy 12F. We had winds over nite so the snow drifted. Willie says the roads are treacherous and our driveway is drifter over. I have things to do tomorrow, but maybe cancelling.

There is a huge drift by the house and the kittens were clueless how to climb it to get to the cat food. They did figure it out.

I have rejected walking about for photos today. Just too cold. Staying in.

Our tv has quit working. Well, not the tv itself but our DirecTV. Worked fine until 1110am. Then the screen got screwy like when the clouds are very thick and we lost satellite connection. Will probaby have to call them to see why.

Extreme cold, no sleep, and snow…

Weather is frigid cold.  Frigid. And stayed that way. But there was no wind which helped. It was cloudy but no snow until 915pm. Now we have snow. Our patio is getting slick. No wind yet.

Not a good day in any way. I had very little sleep. Awake until 3am and awake again at 8am. I did take a nap and that helped some. Still obsessing over our children. Must quit. Must learn to care as much as they do. Just kept asking ‘why’.

I forced myself to drive to Lindsborg late this afternoon for groceries. I thought that Willie could do it but he loaded calves to bring home all day and it did not go well. I was worried with a blizzard warning that we might need food that takes no electricity to fix and eat. With my diabetes I wanted to make sure there was food in the house. And the car was on empty and if there is an emergency I do not want to drive in 10F, blowing snow, and no fuel. I bought nothing healthy. My stress was in charge.

Willie did have some help with the calves so I did not worry quite so much. I did hit the panic button when he never came home for lunch but then when I talked to him I was ok. Every day I worry while he is gone. Today was just worse for me. Is life supposed to be like this?? Where are the good times?

I cancelled my acupuncture. Moved it to another day. I skipped my last movie class. Hated to but just could not go. Next semester will be better. And now I see I am down to work on wednesday. Depends on the roads. Doubt anyone comes in during bad weather anyway.
