Today’s Name Day is:
Swedes like to celebrate. So with a Name Day Calendar you can celebrate not only your “birth” day but your “name” day as well! Extra coffee and cake for you on your name’s day! Today there are so many new names that a name’s day calendar can’t possibly list all the names. The traditional names listed here reflect old Norse culture as well as earlier influences of Christianity. If you know anyone with a name similar to one listed here, surprise them with a “happy name’s day” greeting or sing them “Happy Birthday” in Swedish (Ja, må du leva)! I knew a Helga. I wonder if that is close???
Today I am thankful for: Baptist church & members, John, Jerry
Thought for today:
“Washington is no place for a good actor. The competition from bad actors is too great.”
No rain last nite. But we STILL have very high winds today. It gets old listening to it howl outside. It is blowing at around 30mph or more. No cooler temps or rain until tuesday.
I attended the Baptists church this morning. I helped with the coffee, even though I am not a member. Nice to be included. Every single member there is friendly, from the minister down to the retarded man, & all in between. Seems at my own church there are cliques. If you are not accepted, you are just plain left out & ignored. And during the service we ‘pass the peace’ — shake hands or hug & wish each other peace. And a few of those who freely ‘pass the peace’ with you during church will walk by you at Pizza Hut like they do not see you. Just my opinion.
John & I ate lunch at the other new restaurant that just opened. My cousin owns it. They were packed & the food was great. Nice to finally have a choice of where to eat. Pizza Hut was wearing a bit thin. And without my friend working there, no need to go.
Jerry, the artist-in-residence left today. I will miss him. But he is close. And he will be back here next week sometime.
I had to work at the Red Barn today. Pretty boring most of the afternoon. Thank goodness I brought my laptop. Finally a couple came in late & took the tour. And they even bought several items.
I now have 8 — count ‘em — 8 Christmas cards done. Only 52 more to go!!! I cut out a couple of steps, but still takes a long time to do a card. They are ok.
The photo today is the picture I bought from Jerry. It is just awesome. Just like him!!!
Be well, do good work, and keep in touch!
