Today’s Name Day is Swedes like to celebrate. So with a Name Day Calendar you can celebrate not only your “birth” day but your “name” day as well! Extra coffee and cake for you on your name’s day! Today there are so many new names that a name’s day calendar can’t possibly list all the names. The traditional names listed here reflect old Norse culture as well as earlier influences of Christianity. If you know anyone with a name similar to one listed here, surprise them with a “happy name’s day” greeting or sing them “Happy Birthday” in Swedish (Ja, må du leva)! I do know anyone with this name. Thought for today: I heard that a crew all the way from Michigan are working south of Lindsborg where it is a total mess of downed wires & poles. Hopefuly with the nice weather being nice they can get a lot done. When they are done there, then they will go to Falun. When I came home from Salina a crew had replaced the 10 broken & down poles east of here. They were preparing to run the line again. I had a panic attack this morning. Our electricity flickered a couple of times. I was scared it would be out for a while. But they must have been working somewhere & caused the flickering. I need to get motivated about finishing my Jul shopping, but I just cannot get motivated. And then to wrap. I have not even started. I went to Salina with my list & bought the first thing & realised that was the only check I had with me. Great. Now I have to go back. Plus I need a few things in Lindsborg also. I had lunch with Sally & another friend this noon. I had Swedish meatballs (köttbullar) with lingon. Excellent. That is my photo today. We got up to 41F today & yesterday. The paved roads are clear thanks to the sun, but oh, our dirt road is not so good. They are snow packed. Then it melts a bit during the day & turns to ice when the temp drops. And now that it is warmer, Kitty waits for me on the porch again. Nice. Gått för dagen. Kanske. To find what time it is anywhere in the world right now.
