Today’s Name Day is
Swedes like to celebrate. So with a Name Day Calendar you can celebrate not only your “birth” day but your “name” day as well! Extra coffee and cake for you on your name’s day! Today there are so many new names that a name’s day calendar can’t possibly list all the names. The traditional names listed here reflect old Norse culture as well as earlier influences of Christianity. If you know anyone with a name similar to one listed here, surprise them with a “happy name’s day” greeting or sing them “Happy Birthday” in Swedish (Ja, må du leva)! I do not anyone with this name. Thought for today: ”I wish you more for the New Year than words can express, peace of mind and rest of your body, supreme satisfaction in your personal life, and in your work. Much joy and some happiness snatched from a mad and bloodthirsty world.” – Emma Goldman 1939 Last nite was the coldest nite of the winter. We got down to 9F or -13C. That is very cold. Will be hard to leave the house!! And it never got out of the 20s all day. But after today it will start to warm up. Then it will be way too warm. And rainy. Which means mud. I am still not up to par. My blood sugars are better but when I eat I still get sick. Great. And I have to work. I was going to Salina this morning but stayed home. Will be in Salina tomorrow & will do my running around then. And hopefully buy a camera!! Work was slow. No tours. No thank yous to do. Worked on some docent stuff for our meeting next week & visited with the artist-in-residence. Had coffee after work with Eric. He had a couple of DVDs for me as he usually does. Had a nice visit. We always talk lots of politics & some movies. Sometimes others will join us & then all the politics conversation must stop. Here there can be no conversation, no give & take. It is sad. If you can not have an open mind to others, you might just miss something very important. And probably already have. I brought pizza home for supper. Have not had it for weeks. What with being sick, the ice, the holidays, I have not seen anyone for more than a month. I heard I was the topic of conversation at a local eatery today since no one has seen me forever. If the weather stays fair, I stay healthy, & the car stays out of the shop, maybe life will return to normal. My Gunnarson figurines came today. Wow. They are bigger than I thought. The man was made in 1949 & the lady in 1946. I am so honoured to have them. I know both daughters of the artist. One was my teacher in high school. And after blogging about winning them, the artists granddaughter emailed me. I have not met her, but I know her brother. Fun to ‘meet’ new family. The figurines are my photo today. Gått för dagen. Kanske.
To find what time it is anywhere in the world right now.
