Today’s Name Day is
Swedes like to celebrate. So with a Name Day Calendar you can celebrate not only your “birth” day but your “name” day as well! Extra coffee and cake for you on your name’s day! Today there are so many new names that a name’s day calendar can’t possibly list all the names. The traditional names listed here reflect old Norse culture as well as earlier influences of Christianity. If you know anyone with a name similar to one listed here, surprise them with a “happy name’s day” greeting or sing them “Happy Birthday” in Swedish (Ja, må du leva)! I have a cousin Alfred & knew an Alfrida. Thought for today: Now the New Year reviving old Desires, The thoughtful Soul to Solitude retires. – Omar Khayyam Last nite was a bit warmer but today is miserable!!! Warmer temperature wise, but with high winds & a wind advisory, it feels much worse than yesterday. Winds were at 40 mph or 59 in metric. My day started pretty good. It lulled me into a false sense of security. I met Connie for lunch. We celebrated together & gave each other a gift. We ate at Martinelli’s. Awesome Italian food!! The waiter about made my heart stop. He could be a twin to my friend Klint. I asked if he was related, but never heard of Klint or his family. They were identical — hair, build, smile. I almost asked why he was working there! We had a nice visit. Then I headed over to Images to have the wedding invitations printed. Picked out some very nice paper & envelopes. So far so good. They will be ready on monday. Then out to my car. And my world came to a screeching halt. Got in the car, put the key in the ignition, & the key would not turn. I tried everything. I jiggled the steering wheel, jiggled the key, raised/lowered the steering wheel, turned the steering wheel, locked/unlocked the doors, open/shut the doors, said a lot of unlady like words & thought much worse. Finally I tried to call Willie. Cell phone went directly to voice mail, not a good sign. Left a message. Then I texted him a message. Called home & left a desperate message. He must have got that one ’cause he called pretty fast. I sat in the shade in the cold for over 30 minutes waiting. He got in & turned the steering wheel father than I was able to, & voilá! It started. I was almost in tears by then. Willie stayed in town at a cattle sale so he would be near if it happened again. I then went to Sears. I had a gift card & a couple of checks worth of cash. I looked at the cameras & had a nice guy to help. I had enough for a really fancy one, but not sure I am that smart. Got the next one down. It has many different settings, an 18x zoom, wide photos, etc. Much better than the little one I use now. And I can set things manually if I want to learn how to do that. While he was checking to see if there was one in storage I spotted a camcorder on sale. Extra extra cheap. Decided to get it also. And still had money left over. The camcorder is nothing special but I have never had one so it will be fun. BUT. The clerk forgot to sell me a tape for it. Will grab one tomorrow. I ended the day at Office Max for office supplies. And I am pleased to report the car worked fine the rest of the day. I think the wheels were cranked to far to one side. I will be careful not to do that again. Now home to play with the new camera!!! And in a much better mood. Gått för dagen. Kanske.
