Today’s Name Day is Rut Swedes like to celebrate. So with a Name Day Calendar you can celebrate not only your “birth” day but your “name” day as well! Extra coffee and cake for you on your name’s day! Today there are so many new names that a name’s day calendar can’t possibly list all the names. The traditional names listed here reflect old Norse culture as well as earlier influences of Christianity. If you know anyone with a name similar to one listed here, surprise them with a “happy name’s day” greeting or sing them “Happy Birthday” in Swedish (Ja, må du leva)! I know no one with this name. Thought for today: Late lies the wintry Sun a-bed, A frosty, fiery sleepy-head; Blinks but an hour or two; and then, A blood-red orange, sets again. Today was Swedish group. We had a swedish lesson today. For coffee there was tea ring & brownies. Elly took me out to lunch after group. We had cornish game hens with bbq sauce, corn, bread, & shrimp bisque soup. Excellent meal!! We sat & talked for a long time. It was a nice time. I ran errands all over Lindsborg. Talked to a couple of people about doing a program for the swedish group. Nothing definite yet. I stopped in Pizza Hut to say hi & Klint & to tell him he has a twin. He has an idea who it might be. He is going to take his girlfriend there to check him out! I ran errands in Salina also. Got tapes for my camcorder & birdseed. I did not get to watch the Iowa caucuses last nite. Willie had to watch KU play in the Orange Bowl Unfortunately they won. But I was pleased that Obama won! How exciting. But Huckabee………that is just plain scary. Lord knows we do not need another 4 years of someone like him. I was listening to talk radio on my Sirius radio today. Huckabee has written a book with a co-author. They did some checking into that guy since they had never heard of him. Well, he has written a book proposing that we scrap all of our constitution & replace it with the old testament. I think there is a side to Huckabee that has not been brought out. A scary one. The wind howled all day yesterday & most of the nite. It has blown a little today but not as bad. It has been in the 40s for 2 days but has felt worse than when it was in the lower 30s or 20s.
