History & heat

Thought for today:

“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

-Thomas Alva Edison

I hate summer. It was miserable today. I was 94F or 34.4C with very high humidity. Willie put Jo in her pen & she just laid there. When I let her in she just flopped on the floor.

There are no storm warnings for here today but Nebraska sure looks scary!!! Last nite in Winfield — where Jordy goes to college — there was 112mph winds with lots of damage. The college must be ok as they did not make the news.

Our a/c has not been working right. So today we had to turn it off in the late morning so when the repairman got here it would not be froze up. OJ!!! Miserable. Luckily I had to work. And it was very cool when I got home!!

I worked at the Raymer Studio. It was sooo slow. I started working on the file of our largest collector of Raymer art. I totally forgot about his file. I did most of the database of pieces in private collections. There are over 1500 entries. Most are one piece of art but there were some that was only a piece of scrap paper with a name & that they might own 3 Raymers so there are more pieces than entries. The database does not include what we own & some that is in galleries. That is a lot of art.

My artist friend Julie came in to get her paycheck at the Raymer. We both hate this heat so we decided we should take our HUGE checks & run away. Well, we only had a couple of hundred dollars between us & realised we would not get far. Nowadays, that is a tank of gas!!! So we commiserated with each other & talked about some movies to watched.

I watched CNN last nite to see history made. We are very late, but we now have a black man as a candidate for president. And the possibility of a woman as vice-president. We are waaay behind the rest of the world so it is about time. Obama’s speech was awesome. McCain spoke also. It was not good. Only 200 people there who sounded like they were directed when to say —- not yell —- but say Yay or Boo. Not good. Hillary gave a great speech but she should have conceded. Hopefully by the end of the week. We truly need someone who can start to heal our country, our relationship with the world, & try to pull us out of the deep hole the last 8 years have put us in.

Gått för dagen. Kanske.

Be well, do good work, and keep in touch!

Monas Dare – GLASSES

This little “Game”, “Competition” or whatever I shall call it – it is not a contest! I came up with this idea (Maybe some will think it is corny… silly or whatever, but then they do not have to join so there! lol) I just thought this could be a fun way to get to know each other, get our inspiration going and use our cameras or painting programs!

I call this game “I dare you!” and every Friday I will dare you to show me something! (Nothing nude or nasty!!) Obviously it has to be your own photos, or graphics!

This Friday – until next! – I dare you to show me what kind of glasses you got. This is a few that I got.

There is one with an island girl I got in Wichita, a handpainted one I got at a sale, one that says Skål (made in Lindsborg), & a Kosta Boda glass.

Mono Monday #9

The rules for Mono Mon are pretty simple.Well I hope they are anyways. these are the steps and guidlines and are subject to change as we work the kinks out of this. This is the page to post your link after you have your end results.

1.   Choose your color image (one only)

2.   Do your conversion to one of three types that will be accepted Black and White, Sepia ,”Sepia Example” Or
Black and White with a single hand painted (digitally painted) color. See ”Hand Painted ”

3    Take notes on what processes and steps, programs used, anything that contributed   in
      making the final image.

4.   Write your blog. when finished and happy with it bring it to this page and post your link
only (no images) Also things to remember is to keep your title as short as possible long
long links tend to wreck the right rail allingment on the owners pages.

5.   After link is posted start visiting and seeing all the wonderful shots  and
       techniques being shared.

6.   Posting will close on Tuesday so we can all ready ourselves for “Picture Perfect Friday”

Feel free to ask questions

Here is my original picture.
I resized it then did
  • Simple – Horizontal Grain
  • changed contrast
  • added border
Here is the result

Gators Mono Monday Challenge

Jun 1, ‘08 5:31 PM
for everyone
Ok folks the shot I chose is a pretty basic Savannah sidewalk shot of the old period townhomes here. The challenge is to give me your interpretation of how these homes would have appeared in the 1800’s. Alright I will post a fairly large scale shot the  deadline for you to complete is midnight Eastern Standard Time thats Zulu plus 5 on Monday night take your time and remember the only one you are competing with is yourself. I can’t wait to see what you all come up with.
Here is mine. I took the photo, used Filters Unlimited to make it look old, sharpened a bit, & added the frame.
