Yesterday harvest had too few helpers & one major breakdown. Put us behind. Even 1 more would have helped so the 1 machine working could still have been working. I made food for 4-5 but only fed 2. One left early, one never showed, & our trucker was stuck at the elevator. Actually there is 1 who never showed for the whole harvest, but that is a whole other ugly story. Lots of leftovers.
Where we cut yesterday is next to a wonderful plot of ground that is full of wild flowers. Or weeds, as Willie calls them. There are bunches of tiny white flowers. Hundreds upon hundreds of Black Eyed Susans. I found some tiny puples ones I could not get a photo of. I would have had to lay flat, but there are too many bugs!! I saw one lovely thistle & one tiny yellow flower. It is lovely. This autumn we will mow it & bale it all.
This morning I helped move everything to our last patch quite a few miles away. I asked about supper. Willie said he would call if they were still cutting & I was needed. It is now 6pm & no phone call. I hope that means they are done. I am tired of it all. Willie has been waaay more stressed than he will admit to. Probably having to do with the giant elephant in the room (the one who did not show).
It is hot, hot, hot today & windy. Big chance of rain tomorrow nite. Then much cooler for a day. I welcome cool weather.
