Today I ventured to Wichita for lunch with my friend David. First a stop in Lindsborg for fuel. The price has gone up a penny. Not too bad.
Then I was off to Wichita.
Had an uneventful trip there but once in town I ran into construction on the streets. I hate that!! Easy to get confused with all the traffic!!
I had written directions to David’s & I wrote a street down wrong. I WAS hoping it was his mistake but, no. I am the one losing my mind. So sad. But I called him & I was only 2 blocks form his home.
David’s home is just perfect!! A wonderful blend of , antiques, ancestoral photos. I felt very much at home & at peace there. And to be surrounded by his art is always special. I got to see his studio he has in the basement. He has been painting several awesome wheat paintings. I had a piece of art from David Perez for him. David P is from Guatemala. After a short visit, we were off to lunch.
I always let my Wichita friends pick where to eat. They always know the best places, like this one. I had pasta with chicken. Very good but too much. I could not eat it all. A nice lunch for sure. Then he had to hang some paintings for a show so I was off to shop!!!
I first went to Food For Thought. It is a health food/supply shop. I was looking for green tea. Found some great flavoured ones. They have lots of natural oils, lotions, soaps, cool kitchen gadgets, a grocery store, incense, candles. I love it! Then I was off to Beauty First. They sell hair care products, makeup, soaps, hair dryers, etc. They have brands that Salina has never heard of. Then I had a front seat of treasures in my car!!!
I made the mistake of looking at the temperature gauge in the car. That was ugly. It was a partly cloudy day with strong winds. And the temp shows below!!
I am trying to be a better person environmentally speaking. So instead of driving my usual 75 mph on the interstate, I drove a friggin’ 60 mph all the way home. It was awful! The miles just draaaaged by. It added 15 minutes driving time. As the next photo shows, EVERYONE passed by me. EVERYONE. There were almost a couple of accidents of gas guzzlings speeders racing to get by me before anyone else could pass me by.
Finally what seemed like hours later, I arrived in Lindsborg. Almost home.
And after Lindsborg came my home. Willie drove to tractor to plow fire guards. Jo has to be put in the house or she will follow him.
I let Jo out but she quickly returned inside. Just too hot for words!!
I called my friend Elly & we talked for at least an hour. I had not talked to her since before harvest. We had a good talk. After the last 3 weeks of being so stressed I was afraid I would have to see my dr, today was a nice day. Nice friends is what it is all about for me.
Now tonite there are heavy rains in the area. North of us they have had over 3 inches!! I hope we get some here. It is too dry. And a little cooler temps would help too.
