Too humid for words………

The weather was miserable today. It was cloudy & only in the 80s but that report is sooo deceiving. The humidity stayed at around 75% so the temp felt like 104F. I stay inside as much as possible.

Today is my grandson Chris’s birthday. I took him out to eat. Willie joined & Chelsea came after her lunch date. I gave him some money for his birthday. He can probably use it. He is moving in with his father both to save some money & to just be with his dad. Chris has a new job at Applebee’s. Hope he does well with it.

Yesterday was my daughter’s birthday. I never remembered or even thought of her at all. I guess she has her dream of being no part of this family & I have moved on enough not to be upset.

I worked today. The internet was all messed up so I had to turn my computer off while Marsha was on the phone with the help desk. By the time it was back on, it was time for me to go. I worked on some brochures that have our old admission prices on them. We charge no admissions now so I am blacking out that part. Tedious work, but the stack is getting smaller.

I came home to find my dishwasher unhooked & moved out from under the counter. It has not worked well for several months. I guess Willie wants his dishes cleaner than it gets them. He is not home yet so I hope that does not mean he cannot find one the correct size. THAT would be MY luck.

Welcome to Picture Perfect!
 

This is week 8 of our Competition

and you have three days to submit a picture, after which the Top Ten Pictures will be selected by our panel of admins and posted up in a poll on Saturday morning (PST). The poll will run for 24hours (as requested by the public!) and the winner will be announced on Sunday morning!

The rules:

~ Each week a theme will be posted up on Wednesday, and you are invited to put up your best picture with that theme in mind, it should be

only ONE  picture please and it should be YOURS

 not off the internet, not a friends picture but your very own

No slide shows please, and no automatic music on the page

As kids, we used to play a game, particularly on road trips
“I spy with my little eye, something beginning with…” and you’d mention a letter of the alphabet.

“I spy” basically means to be looking out for something, usually secretively. The word ’spy’ is used simply because it rhymes, so to make it easier to understand…
“I see with my eye, something beginning with…”

This week, we are playing this game. I give you a letter and you give me the word. To make it more interesting, you can give me the word (and matching photo) in any language on condition you tell us what the word means : )

Torrential rains!

Torrential rains!

I got up this morning, opened the front door, & nearly passed out. We had some rain last nite & it was sooo humid. No air was moving. I wished I could stay home but I had an app’t with my acupunturist after lunch.

On the way to Lindsborg I drove through some really heavy rain. Not scary heavy but still pretty bad. Then nothing all the way to McPherson. BUT. When I left Mac here was what I saw.

It was very black towards Lindsborg. This picture does not show how dark it looked. You just know when it is that dark, you will drive into bad stuff.

Did not take long for the rain to start. There is a semi ahead of me, just a dot in this photo.

In this photo, the semi has disappeared from my view. The  rain got much worse. The semi slowed waaay down. I caught up with him. We only went about 40 mph. It rained soo hard I could barely see the truck, I could hardly see the stripe in the middle of the road, & it was difficult to see oncoming traffic. It was very scary. I took no photos at this time. I really wanted to pull off the road, but it was impossible to see an intersection until it was too late to stop. My knuckles were white!!!

Here the rain has let up enough I can see the semi again.

Here are some of the dark clouds. A bit scary. But there was no wind. I would have freaked if there had been high winds also!!

Finally out of the worst of it. Nice to be able to see the road again!!

Here is the remnants of the storm in Lindsborg, a flooded street. The camera focused on the window instead of the street, so a bit blurry!

Here at our farm, we had 2.25 inches of rain. Then it was all over for us.

I went to a get-together with Sally & Lou in the evening. Lots of fun conversation & since it was a jewelry party, I bought a couple of pieces. Much better than the afternoon!!!
