The I attended church today at the Baptist Church with Sally, Paul, & Sally’s sister Julie. When church was over the 4 of us took off for Colby Kansas, about 3 hours away. Julie has Down’s Syndrome & she spends time with all her sisters. She was here for the last 2 weeks. Now she is back to Denver to another sister’s home. A third sister & her husband met us in Colby for the trade off.
Near Hays Kansas is Victoria Kansas. It is the home of St. Fidelis Church. It is just awesome. You are transported to Europe when you enter. Victoria is a very small town & it is home to the magnificent church. I have several photos of on my Flickr & the link to the church website above. When I drive to Denver I always stop here to meditate, pray, & light a couple of candles.
As we went through Lincoln County we were again in awe of the wonderful, graceful windmills at the wind farm. They were all in motion today. Wow. Oh, if we only had some here, but ooooops! I forgot. People here were too stupid & did not want them. Their reasoning — too loud (that is false), ugly (also false), & they would kill all the birds (false again). We saw a huge flock of birds flying near the moving blades. And miracle of miracles, not one bird was killed or maimed. They flew harmlessly on their way. How, oh how, could that be? I would gladly let them build on my land without a second thought.
My knee is fine today. No swelling, little pain. Go figure. And my hands had little itching. Good to get out among people again. Maybe that makes the difference.
It was a nice day today but the weather. The weather. It was awful, to put it mildly. It showed 102F or 39C. When we stopped for fuel or food, it was like a blast furnace when we opened the car doors. Miserable. We were to be near 100F all week with no chance of rain. Now tonite they slipped in a tiny chance of rain tuesday. I will not get excited. Probably have a light shower that just makes it humid as he**.
Be well, do good work, keep in touch! |
