Pretty quiet day today. I had lunch with John. We went to Marquette where there is a great café. We had their fried chicken dinner. Excellent.
I had to work then this afternoon. No one came in for a tour. And artist friend, Julie, was in for short visit. Marsha was in to do some computer work then left. I played on my pc, worked on some Swedish, & cleaned out some shelves that were a mess.
While I was at work alone, I heard some really strange noises. Very loud crashing on the roof or upstairs. Much much louder than walnuts falling from the trees. Then there were footsteps walking upstairs, or maybe on the roof. I then went out to look at the roof in case someone was there to clean the gutters or something. No one there. Hmmm.
I feel so bad for New Orleans. I think bad happenings are inevitable. The city seems to have their act together this time. That is a good thing. I have been keeping track on the tv.
Our weather is hot & humid. (sigh) Be well, do good work, keep in touch!

Had a meeting about the art sale in november. It is coming together. Just need donated art & people to watch the studio so nothing is harmed. The champagne punch & cheese & crackers are planned for the opening nite. Kringler & coffee for the next day. It will be fun.
After the meeting John & I ate at Jalisco’s. Good food as always. Then I went to McPherson to run some errands. Now home catching up online & watching Bill Maher.
Hot & humid again. Ick.

My day always starts by feeding the cats. They demand that!!!
Then I watch some tv to see what is going on in the world while I check my email.
On they way to Lindsborg, I stopped to smell the roses…………..er, sunflowers!
Today was Swedish group. Talking to us was J. T. O’Neal who is filming a movie in Lindsborg in november-december. Here is a blogg about the movie.
Today I had lunch with Elly at Season’s. It started out as a very pleasant meal but I got a very upsetting phone call about a friend. It is an ongoing drama that I fear will have a tragic end. Too upset to blogg about it & have been on the phone off & on all day with a friend of my friend, my friend’s sister & mom. His mom is very frail so now I worry for her also.
After lunch I went to the bank for money.
Then on to Elly’s house. I helped her with her digital camera & how to put the photos she takes on her pc. Then Marliss & Kathy joined us for coffee.
After coffee there, I went to the Old Grind for coffee with Eric & John.
Then home. Luckily there are leftovers so I did not have to cook.

Some of you might wonder what your taxes will be like with Obama or McCain as president. Find outhere.
I had an acupuncture treatment today. Nothing major. I had some shopping to do in McPherson but then my grandson Chris called. I went back to town to have coffee with him. He is sure turning into a handsome man. And he has a new job. He was working at Red Lobster but it does not pay enough. Now he will work for Schwan’s, maker of Tony’s Pizza & Red Baron Pizza. They pay well, have great benefits.
My friend Josh & I have chatted off & on all day. He has been in Minnesota for a week. He is moved into his room, he has made friends, & is already dating. I am glad things are going very well for him. And I am glad as he moves on, I am still part of his life.
Hate the weather. Autumn has retreated, summer is back….hot & humid. Ick.

We had next to no rain yesterday. How lucky. We got our hay baled. But there is rain building in Colorado that will be here maybe tonite but the radar is pretty empty.
I had lunch with Sally to day at Jalisco’s. Our waiter is so cute. You can tell when he does not understand what I am saying. He gets a blank look, but never lets on. He asked what I wanted to drink. I ordered a martini. He did understand that. He could draw the shape of the martini glass with his hands!!! He did not bring me one though.
I worked today. My goodness we were busy. I gave 6 tours, sold several things, had numerous visitors for our artist, & still got all my thank yous done! I was pretty tired when I came home.
I had fun watching the Democratic convention last nite. A close friend & I were emailing back & forth from late afternoon well into the evening. I have the Democratic convention on now. What a historic day! A person of colour has just been nominated for president. I never thought I would live long enough. And a lesbian just sang for 7 minutes. I can just hear the prejudicial tongues here wagging in disgust. In fact, I think I feel a strong breeze. For me, it is a good day long overdue.
And it is another banner day for me. The grey kitten came to me when I called her to. She is sooo sweet. Gotta work on the black one.

Willie & I went to Wichita today. I had new lenses for my glasses to get & it is too wet for him to do farm work. So we ate at the Cracker Barrel. Their food is to die for!! Then I got my lenses. Nice to see again. Then he browsed for some farm equipment. It was a nice day. He rarely goes anywhere with me.
Now home again. I have not felt the best today. Either the flu lingers or it could be my gallbladder. Getting old. And now my left eye is itching, hurting, & teary. Dang allergies!
Not much else going on. Awaiting the Democratic convention tonite. Be well, do good work, keep in touch!

I saw that my friend Josh in safely in Minnesota. I even had an email from him. His family started driving home saturday afternoon. How I miss him!!! Hoping to see him next spring.
My friend from Wichita called last nite. We had a long talk about the upcoming art sale. He & I are on the same page about several things. I am sooo relieved. And we talked about family. We share a niece & nephew. He has a bit more family than I do but not much. Difficult to face the holidays & other times when it is pretty lonely. But he said some really nice things & told me I would always be family to him. Nice to hear.
Jo is just plain nuts. She loves to ride with Willie. He took her with in the pickup to go drive another larger truck home. She was terrified of it. He had to chase her down 3 times before finally getting her inside the truck & driving home. Then he had to hold her leg to prevent her from jumping out the window that would not roll all the way up!!
I woke up today to rain & thunder. Kind of nice but we had hay needing to be baled. Hope we do not lose more. I drove Bryan to church in Roxbury. There were huge puddles on the road that made driving difficult. And today the college kids were moving in. What a mess for them!! Pouring rain & carrying their clothes, tvs, etc. into the dorms. We had an inch of rain here.
After church Bryan & I met Bill & Jenn & Willie for lunch. I was glad Bryan was there for me in case Bill & Willie got into it again. Bryan is sort of ‘adopted’ by my mom & I. He & I have said we are siblings to often that one lady in town believes it!! Bryan is part Indian (India) & part Guyanese. We *do not* resemble each other at all!!!
I went to see Mom. She could hardly keep her eyes open & keeps dosing off. I did not stay long. No point. Be well, do good work, keep in touch!
