Weather has continued nice, but it was a bit warmer. Not hot but warmer. There is rain west of here and it is getting close. There was some severe weather there but it has passed now.

I had Swedish group today. Our speaker was from Bethany College. She is in charge of all the foreign students. Last year we had 33 foreign students here on student visas plus 11 other students who were born overseas but now live in the US. Five graduated last year so our total of foreign students might be down a bit. What a fun job.

I had lunch with John and Sally at Jalisco’s. Their flautas are to die for!! Nice lunch.

This afternoon I ‘fika’ – had coffe with friends – at Naomi’s. Her mom and another friend Phyllis were there also. What a nice time! Very relaxing and good snacks! She had the best ice tea! Mmm.

Took my car into a friend’s body shop. I have had a large crack in my windshield that is spreading. He will fix it on monday. And he is going to try to fix my driver’s side window. Goes down but not back up. Will be nice. Cannot go to the car wash with the crack and the car has looked horrible.

Sat out with the cats tonite. And Willie and Jo. The air was really turning cool. So pleasant.

Sally called tonite. Our cousin Kathryn wants to take Sally, Paul, Willie, and I out to eat next thursday at Red Lobster. How fun. I hope that Willie goes but that is iffy. Kathryn just got back from France and Sweden. I am beyond jealous!! She and 3 daughters visited where her husband and their father landed on Normandy and then visited his family in Sweden. Great times!

Monas Dare – Something red

This little “Game”, “Competition” or whatever I shall call it – it is not a contest! I came up with this idea (Maybe some will think it is corny… silly or whatever, but then they do not have to join so there! lol) I just thought this could be a fun way to get to know each other, get our inspiration going and use our cameras or painting programs!

I call this game “I dare you!” and every Friday I will dare you to show me something! (Nothing nude or nasty!!) Obviously it has to be your own photos, or graphics!

I changed one thing, it doesn’t have to be a NEW photo, you can pick any photo or graphics you have!

This Friday I will make it an easy one, show me a photo of something red!

Weather has continued nice. No rain today.

I got up at the crack of dawn today. Well, it seemed like the crack of dawn. Had a meeting at the Red Barn to discuss the Christmas Artist’s Open House. Next year we are planning to evolve it into something truly awesome!! Lots of good ideas.

Then walked over to the bank to deposit the check from Mom’s annuity. Went into my Sweden travel account!! Very nice!! Nice to know I can travel a few more times. I would love to see Italy or France. Must look into some tours for that.

This afternoon was my yearly eye dr. app’t. Always a fun time. As a diabetic, I must have my eyes dilated and checked. He said my eyes do not look like the eyes of a diabetic. Happy days!! My left eye had really changed so I will be glad to get new lenses. I get those in Wiichita and will be there next week to give them my script.

Why is is when someone perceives that I have commited a mortal sin & I apologise and explain, they cannot accept my apology? I got verbally beaten up all week. And I am at a loss what to do. I know I am not apologising or explaining again. Time to move on.

Busy last nite

Weather has continued nice. Had a bit of rain yesterday but not much. On the way to Wichita I saw deep standing water. They had a downpour.

I have not had anything major going on for 2 days. Has been rather nice. I am sleeping fairly well but had some anxiety today. I can identify a couple of stressors but what to do about them….well I am clueless. Can’t very well walk away from everything, can I.

A few days ago my friend Jon asked if I could possibly to do Wichita to pick up the college German teacher, Margarete, if he could not get off of work. I said I could but I had never met her. Well, he had to work so I went. She and I have many mutual friends but we have just not met. I found her to be soo very nice and interesting. And our sons were in high school together. It was the most enjoyable trip home from Wichita I have had. And we hope to share a lunch together soon. I hope I have made a new friend. Jon hopes that also. Always nice to meet new people.

Margarete’s plane was only 90 minutes late so I had lots of time to people watch. Oh, what an interesting crowd. I saw an Amish couple boarding. They are allowed to fly?? And there were several Mennonites boarding and getting off a flight. They are allowed to fly?? I sat next to a Hispanic lady and 2 kids. A Hispanic man got off a plane and sat next to me. They never ever were quiet for a moment. Never. Sat there forever and then they all left. Why not leave right away? Too many rednecks there. One I never figured out if it was a male or female. Very strange. One man waited impatiently for someone, with a large bouquet of flowers. How special!! Lucky woman! And a soldier got off and met a pretty woman. They hugged and he lifted her off her feet and walked away like that. Hmmm.

Willie brought home more fresh corn tonite so we had corn and ribeye steaks. A great meal!!! I did good!

Have to get up waay too early tomorrow. Have 2 meetings in the morning and then an eye doc app’t. Not much of a fun day. I cannot drive after my eye app’t so Willie has to drive me in. I am sure he is not happy about that. But there is just no one else to ask so he can just suck it up.

Today is my friend David’s birthday. Wish I could have celebrated with him, but he was working. He said he had a great day!!

Tonite is the all star soccer game. They are playing an English team. Fun to watch. Hope we can win, but…. Ended tied so now we are into penalty kicks. But we lost. )-;

Weather started out hot and humid then this afternoon the temp dropped 13 degrees. Still humid. There were showers in the area but nothing here. More on the way now. Flood warnings way to the west.

My brother and I got the annuity money today from our mother. Poor government could not get their grubby hands on it. Mine is headed for my Sweden fund. I am going there next summer, probably with my friend Tim. I am excited to have someone to travel with! We will be in Kalmar, towns of Tuna and Vena. That is where Willie’s family and Tim’s family are from. And most of the Falun settlers.

Tonite I met Eric, my professor and friend, for supper at Tres Amigos in McPherson. Good food! Had not seen him for a long time. Lots of catching up to do.

Had movie class tonite. We are watching cult films this summer. Saw a very short one and a longer one. Both were good but quite different from each other.

In Lindsborg tonite I saw a red fox!!! He was starting to cross the street and saw me. He went back so I drove by slowly. There he was standing. I could see him very well. Too dark for a photo!

Weather turned hot today. And a bit humid. I did not enjoy it! I just heard that a cold front is coming on tuesday with highs only in the 70s to 80s. And rain. Nice!

Today was Willie’s and my 43rd wedding anniversary. We eloped sort of to Minneapolis KS and were married in the court house. I had wanted a nice wedding but my parents would not do that. Such was life. We had an apartment in Salina KS. No honeymoon for a couple of years then we went to California to visit some friends.

Had lunch with John today at Jalisco’s. We had good food and nice visit.

I had to unlock the art studio today. Photographed some nice art work from the artists here from McPherson KS. Art is all done by Shin-hee Chin. The first is a woven tapestry. The next 4 are collages of different papers, painted paper, etc. I stayed to chat with Gay, our docent for today. Nice to see her!

This evening we went to our nephew Kyle’s for a surprise birthday party for his mother Mary’s birthday. It is also her brother Tim’s birthday tomorrow as well as their mom’s birthday tomorrow. They have another celebration tomorrow evening at the nursing home. Great to see Tim. Had a long visit with him. He is president of the board of the art studio and a good friend. The evening was gorgeous outside. We all sat out and visited. For supper there were bbq’d burgers/brats, potato sallad, pasta sallad, chips, dip, angel food cake, blueberry cheesecake and homemade ice cream. I totally pigged out!

Kyle’s mother-in-law said we will have to have celebration when Willie and I hit 45 and/or 50 years. I said that probably will not happen as there really needs to be family and/or kids to be in charge. No family and no child who would even consider giving us a party. But she said she would do it & having Kyle and Angie help her. How nice of her. Never heard from Bill today at all. He  totally forgot.

What a day!

I woke up to cool, cloudy, and rain. The start to a good day, I thought. In reality I should have pulled the covers up and never got up. It was a hell of a day. My anxiety is through the roof. Still cannot calm down. And, of course, that affects my blood sugar. I am then doubly punished. I give up. I certainly hope tomorrow is better.

My grey mother cat is missing. She did not come to eat last nite nor this morning. I am sad. She was sweet. She was always near the porch.

I worked this afternoon. We have a group of artists here this week from McPherson. They are all nice and do really good art. I gave 8 tours. And they all donated money. My co-worker Mary came for a bit. She was certainly a bit of sunshine for me today. I needed that.

There was a wedding this afternoon at the church next door. Afterwards I noticed the bride and groom came over to our front courtyard for some photos. Very cool.

Finally home with my feet up watching soccer. Nice to see it live instead of at midnight!

We are going out to eat tonite to celebrate our 43rd anniversary. It is actually tomorrow but are invited to our nephew’s home. So we go out tonite.

Hot weather again

Our weather turned hot again. It was almost 100F again. Not horribly humid but not wonderful out. Glad to be inside.

The stray dog we had has been claimed by his owners. He has returned once but hopefully he will learn to stay home. I sure loved him, though, so glad he is ok. Willie would have never let me keep him no matter how much I loved him. It is never about me. It is only about him. Always.

I did nothing yesterday but be a slacker. Sort of feel like a congressman….goofing off instead of taking care of my constituents. Vacation more important than health care for the masses. Idiots.

Had Swedish group today. We had a Swedish lesson. Our teacher does a nice job. But after group I learned the worst news — she is moving out of state. I have no clue what we will do. I can do the lessons like her but I cannot pronounce things correctly like she does. I am so upset. There is someone who could but since we cannot get her to attend our meetings, I am sure she is not an option. Our group is dying, I fear. The younger people in town are just too busy or we are not good enough for them. We have lost at least 12 members in the last year from health, age, don’t-give-a-damn, and death. It is sad. And some who should be attending will say how important we are to our heritage but will not visit us.

I ate out with 2 friends, Naomi and Gem. Had a nice lunch. Had a buffet with Southern foods. Yummy! A third friend should have been with us but was under the weather.

I had to pick up some medicine today. That never gets any cheaper. I will never understand why the drug companies in this country hurt people here but not in other places like Canada. How do they think families can survive? There is no hope, I fear.

When I got home something I ate or virus or something I have decided to kick in. I really just felt sick to my stomach. I took a short nap and just rested. I feel better now. Who knows what it was. At least my blood sugars have been pretty good. Cannot be sick this weekend. Just cannot.
