Weather was great today. High in the 60s. *60s* Unbelievable. Last nite was 50 or colder. Auction day was a bit scary. Some very nasty weather near us. The KSU game was stopped for an hour with the teams off the field and the stadiums cleared. The cloud looked like a wall cloud almost. There was extremely heavy rain within 3 miles of Lindsborg but only 10 drops on us. The winds were fairly strong but they did not bother.
Saturday was the fund raiser auction at the Red Barn. Things went fairly smooth. Had maybe 100 pieces in the silent auction. I had my eye on a necklace and as soon as there were prices, it was mine. Maybe 70 pieces in the live auction. One piece was a Swedish style tree made by my grandfather. I really wanted it. No one had bothered to tell me it was there or to let me see it. Sad. I had the auctioneer and a friend both bidding for me in case I was too busy to be there. But I did my own bidding. I won it and almost cried. There was tons of food. TONS. Right near my table. I ate more than I should have and it was all excellent. And we ran out of nothing. I started my day with a glass of champagne. Every day should start that way. Nice. I was in charge of new members. I sold 4 new memberships and 1 renewal. After the live auction I was the one who went inside to run the credit card machine. It was a mad house!!! I was very tired last nite. See all my auction photos here.
During last nite I got really ill. I have trouble with gastric reflux and last nite was awful. I swear I aspirated into my lungs. I could not lay down for a couple of hours. Miserable. Better today but still feel less than normal.
Met my usual friends for lunch at Pizza Hut. And a new guy joined us. He has always lived around here but we have never been friends. I like him. Very nice. Hope he joins us more often.
This afternoon my friend Joshua gave a concert in Presser Hall on the Bethany College campus. He recently got his master’s degree in sacred music. He plays the organ. He has a great talent but it had been 2 years since I heard him play. He was beyond awesome. Could not believe how much he had improved. Did not think that was possible. I was in tears a couple of times. How he could play such intense music without being exhausted I will never understand. His music literally transported me to places I have never been. It was great to see him this week. And today his partner Raed was here and very nice to see him. Also got to meet his 14 yr. old stepson. He is soo nice. Great kid. Hope I get to visit them some day.
Quiet time tonite. Too tired to do much. And really don’t feel like much.
Ciao for niao!
Jag behöver semester! Jag vill åka till Sverige!
Late last night
While we were all in bed
Miss O’Leary left a lantern in the shed . . .
When the cow tipped it over…
She winked her eye and said,
“It will be a hot time in the old town tonight.”
