Weather remains too warm. And far too windy. Sheesh. We had a 60% chance of rain yesterday. Well, we got a few drops. There were some very severe storms that I did not want, but rain would have been nice. One town near Topeka Kansas was hit hard. Said that 40% of the town gone. Very sad.

 

I was gone all weekend. Left at 0700 on sunday morning from Salina. We headed towards Wichita and then south to Oklahoma. Lunch was at Eskimo Joe’s in Stillwater next to the university. Great place. Upper and lower levels. Awesome burgers with a sundae to finish the meal. Then onward to the south.

 

We stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Catoosa OK. We had awesome rooms! I chose not to gamble. I never win. We were just in Las Vegas and I just ordered some new clothes. Saved my money. We ate at the potato buffet there for supper and breakfast. Great food.

 

Sunday evening we went to Broken Arrow OK. to see Blast!. They are a brass and drum corp that dance, play, sing. There are various other instruments and flags and whatever they twirled and tossed. It was an amazing show. Would love to see them again. Will post a video of them in the post.

 

Monday we went to Claremore OK. We stopped at the Will Rogers Memorial. An awesome museum! I could have spent all day there. Did not see it all. Then it was lunch at The Pink House. It is a tea house with an awesome menu. Great meal.

 

Not sure why, but we were almost 2 hrs. late getting home. No problem. I will say that the places we ate were great. There were 92 people traveling together. How they could plan on feeding 92 at one time is beyond me. I traveled with my friend Elly. We have such fun together. Also on the bus was a former coworker from my hospital days, Theora. We talked about old times back in the days. What fun!! Must call her to meet again,.

 

Today was fairly quiet. Just acupuncture. Then I took myself out to eat at Jalisco’s. Where else??? One of the waiters has decided I am ok. He is fun! Nice to get some attention.

 

I did notice something odd this weekend. I do not sleep well so I took a anti-anxiety pill to sleep saturday nite. I had no back pain. And all weekend I had much less back pain. But it was back until tonite. Hmmm.

Weather remains too warm. And no moisture. Same song, 12th verse. I don’t even listen if they mention moisture. No use to. Have had 3 days of gale force winds this week. I just took a bath and I could hear things really whipping around in the wind. Ick.

 

Tuesday we had Messiah rehearsal. If was such a fun rehearsal! Lots of laughing!!! I tonite saw shades of Prof. Elmer Copley in our director, Jeff Wall. I loved Elmer and miss him yet today. I also felt Mom’s presence too. She sang for 63 years, one of the longest singing members.

 

Wednesday was a fun day!!! I met 4 former classmates and friends for lunch at Jalisco’s. Four of our names start with *J* —- Janet, Jeanette, Janie, and Julie. Beth has since changed her name to Jelizabeth. Another classmate, Dale, sat with us for a while. We changed his name to J’Dale. We sat there from 1130am to 4pm. Then we went to the Old Grind for tea and almond cake. Then they went home and I went to see Sally at work. Went with her and Paul to pick up Richea and her dog Chloe. We then went to the Elmwood Cemetery to let Chloe run around.

 

It was then waaaay toooooo late to go home to fix supper, so I went to the Brick House Grill and took home pulled sandwiches for Willie and I. Fun day!!!

 

Friday had my Swedish group again. I had a short, easy questionaire in Swedish for them to answer in Swedish. And we all had a good talk! With the new princess born in Sweden, that was the topic of the day. I watched it all live on my laptop. How fun to watch Prins Daniel make the announcement live here.

 

I had a hair appt later in the afternoon. I am going out of town and my hair is easier to fix if my stylist does it than if I fix it.

 

Worked today. Fairly quiet. Gave a tour to 3. Had 3 friends come in to chat. Even got a lot done in a database I am working on.

Weather is a bit cooler today. We had light rain overnite. Extremely light. Maybe rain on monday.

 

Yesterday was my Swedish group. We seem to get fewer all the time. Only 11 there. How much longer can we go on? Used to have 30 every week. All the ones who enjoyed have either died or gotten too sick to come. And no one younger can be bothered. They say good things about us but truly do not care or several of them would show up once in a while. Ha.

 

I met Naomi, Betty, Keo, and Linda in Assaria for lunch. Several local women cook the noon meals and it is great food. Great farm cooking!! Yesterday they had chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, and pie. I had coconut pie. Mmmm.

 

Today I worked at the Red Barn in Lindsborg. Quiet day. Several people were in but none for tours. And Mary came in to have me help with a computer problem. Well, really a software problem. No problem. An easy fix. Nice to see her. We had time for a little chat also.

 

On the way home I drove past some neighbours farm who raise goats. They have many kids now. Sooo cute. I opened my window to take some photos and they were sure talking to me. So fun to hear!!

 

Tonite it was steak nite in Marquette at Rusty’s. The. Best. Steak. Ever. None of Willie’s friends were there so it was a quiet evening meal. But sooo gooood.

   4. What word or words are fun for you to say? And yes Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious counts a a fun word! I love ‘blåbär’ and ‘jaha’, two words I learned in Sweden. Blåbär means blueberries. Jaha means oh well, uh-huh, or I see.

Weather was warmer today. But it was foggy all day. Supposed to have rain but only got mist. Not enough to do any good. Stayed cloudy most of the day.

 

I got flowers yesterday morning for Valentine’s Day. They are very pretty. I really expected not to get anything.

 

Had a hair app’t yesterday afternoon. Just for a cut and style. I am amazed at how long my hair is getting. And it seems to be curlier the longer it gets. Never had curly hair until abouy 5 years ago. I have no idea why.

 

Messiah rehearsal last evening in Lindsborg. I sat it out again. Had a coughing spell in the afternoon and on the way to town. Someone organised that the chorus sang some fun songs for Valentine’s Day. And we got to go home 30 min. early!

 

Willie is having problems. He gets a terrible cramp in his right thigh. Then he cannot walk or sit or stand. Not good. He is seeing his chiropractor. A pinched nerve. I am so stressed and worried. We have no support or back up for the farm. Hard to handle this alone. I have a couple of great friends, but I try not to whine to them too often. They have their own lives to worry about. Feel like I am adrift at sea with no rescue in sight.

 

Today was my acupuncture app’t. Still having bad back pain. It is some better but not enough. She checked my spine to make sure it was not out of alignment with my weeks of coughing. I want to be normal again. Just normal. I want us both to be normal again.

 

After acupuncture, I met Sally for lunch at Jalisco’s. We sat and chatted for so long the kitchen help came out to eat!!! Good to have a good friend.

Our accountant has started on our taxes. I can feel my checkbook twitching….

Weather is still bitterly cold. The snow quit around midnite then nothing. Then this morning and all day we had rain or mist or whatever. Roads turned to ice. Glad I could stay home. Felt cold in the house all day. I early on added a heavy sweater and heavy socks to my attire.

 

I had the nite from hell last nite. Had an update for my Blackberry. Said it might take 2 hours. Took much longer. I tried to stay up until it was done. Gave up finally. I had many odd dreams. Then a major cramp in one leg. I almost had to get up to walk it off. I swear I saw every hour on the hour. I tried to sleep late. Ha.

 

Spent all morning working on my Blackberry. Had to sign in to everything again. I got FaceBook to work and Twitter to work but not emails. Somehow after googling for help, I stumbled onto where I could readd my emails. More work than I planned. My phone had quit holding a wallpaper that I wanted. Works now. And my Google sync always gave me an error message but it worked right. Now no error message.

 

I had a doctor’s app’t today with a fasting lab work. But my blood sugar went low and I had to eat. Cancelled it all until march. I was not going to drive on ice anyway. Has to be a life threatening event to get me to drive on icy roads.

 

Took a long nap this afternoon. It was cold and dark out. Perfect nap weather.

 

Finished up with taxes for real now. Got my report printed out and Willie does whatever he does. And now to deal with a new accountant. Hmmm. IF we did paperwork every month we would not have to do nothing. IF. He refuses to work with me. Asked for years. Have now given up. If it is my idea or something I want, not gonna happen. So I give up and expect nothing.

 

Watched the Grammys last nite. Good show. Could do without rap music. Just not my thing. Same for Taylor Swift. I loved seeing Paul McCartney and Springsteen, the Beach Boys. Awesome!!! I was never a Whitney fan and her death does not change that. The show did a nice tribute to her. Sad she died so young. She had so much to live for. Too bad she could not see that.

Weather is just plain cold. Really cold. In the 20s during the day and low teens at nite. Right now we have snow. And high winds. Brrr. But it is so nice to have normal weather. Not supposed to be a major storm but does not take much ice to make things bad. Maybe rain on wednesday.

 

I have not been here this week. Tax time for us. Bad enough that we are farmers and get screwed over often by the government, etc. But we are required to have our taxes in by the end of february. IF I would keep up every month, it would be a breeze. But. I never do. So I have to do an entire year at one time and we have 3 separate accounts to check through. Our accountant retired so we are using a new one. And probably much more expensive. Hate it. We never ever get money back. Never. Pay in enough to have a nice home, but that is not in my future.

 

Last thursday I started getting sick again. Coughing and feeling heavy and congested in my lungs. I started taking the medicine from my acupuncturist and drinking Emergen C like crazy. Felt so-so on friday but coughing. Saturday I felt good all day. No coughing at all. Then I coughed saturday nite and sunday morning. Sigh. Usch.

 

Had Swedish group on friday. Only 9 showed up. Why do I even bother. Sigh. So discouraging. I can name I bet 50 local people who say how important we are but refuse to come. Frustrating. After group, I took myself out to eat at Jalisco’s. A bright spot in my life!! Then I was off to Abilene for insulin and Walgreen’s for test strips. They have gotten extremely expensive. Got to look for a cheaper place. Seems like the world likes to kick one when they are down.

 

Worked on saturday at the Red Barn in Lindsborg. It was a mad house. I gave tours to at least 12 people. The last to come in was a Bethany College student. I recognised him. When I ate at the college often, he would always say hi and even talk to me. Few other students will do that. I thanked him. He stayed for a long time and we had a nice talk. He hopes to move back here in a couple of years. Be cool. After a long day at work, I met a friend at the White Peacock for a cuppa tea. Nice to relax.

 

Today was the Messiah rehearsal. I sat it out. Did not want to have a coughing spell on stage. I enjoy listening. For such a small chorus, we sound very good. Awesome even. At one time years and years ago, there were 500 members. When I sang in my teens and 20s, there were 300 to 400 hundred. Now we are barely 200. Very sad. Palm Sunday used to be standing room only. No more. Hard to sell tickets. We could hardly wait to turn 16 so we could sing. Few kids sing now. They would rather play computer games or watch sports. My mom was one of the longest singing members at 63 years. This is my 20th year.

 

Forced Willie to eat out saturday nite at Big Cheese Pizza. I was not up to cooking. Love their pizza!
